Meet CASA/ GAL volunteers, foster parents, advocates and adoptive parents, people like yourselves that have become involved in changing the lives of these children. There are so many ways to make a difference in the life of a foster child. You have just taken the first step!
I remember the time I was going to my first foster home. She was the one who picked me up from the hospital to take me there. I remember being really scared and nervous and I guess she saw that. She asked me what my favorite flavor of ice cream was and I said cookies and cream. She took me to get ice cream and it made me real happy cause I loved ice cream. Pura, which I call her Pooh, was my first foster mom. She has helped me in so many ways. She is like the mom I never had. As time went on I really grew close to her and considered her my mom. She always helped me in any way she could and always cared about me. I gave her hell at times, but she never gave up on me. She always knew that I would make it and helped me through the hardest times of my life. I look up to Pooh and really admire her, because she is such a strong women. Because of her I can say that I'm as strong as I am today. I love her with all of my heart and want to thank her for everything she has done for me. I love you Pooh!!! Kalymah |
